Parent Forum meeting on Monday 26th June 2017

Dear Parent Forum,

Please find below the agenda for the coming meeting on Monday 26th June 2017.

As always please can you let me know in advance if you are able to come so I can make appropriate arrangements.

  1. Feedback on the App - Review of the App content and functionality following launch to all parents/carers. Suggestions for further information to be included particularly in the "resources" section.
  2. New on-line curriculum - Presentation of the developments with the on-line curriculum by Mr Parsons and opportunity for PF feedback.
  3. The development of The Winston Churchill Competencies - Presentation from Mr Parsons on the introduction of the competencies and their development as a structure for use by parents.
  4. Accessible, affordable extracurricular provision for all - How to engage an entire year group?

At the previous meeting we covered:

Parent Teacher contact, looking at the frequency and type of contact -
Feedback from parental suggestions informed the calendar/assessment cycle for 2017-18. Very useful to receive parent's feedback and in future it would be appropriate to provide more information in terms of calendar constraints as part of the exercise.
ACTIONS: Comments provided are informing calendar decisions

New communication App
JFR updated parents on the App and asked them to trial and provide feedback.
ACTIONS: Parents to trial App and provide feedback.
App to launch to parents having incorporated suggested improvements.

Home / School Partnership Agreement -
Parents reviewed Home School Partnership agreement and made several suggestion relating to expectations e.g. excellent punctuality and attendance. It was raised by several parents that many of the points in the agreement were essentially minimal expectations and that there should be a clear implication/expectation that these standards would be met by parents/students. JFR explained that this may be the case, however, it needed to cover all the bases and was a useful reference point for discussions with parents and students.
ACTIONS: Amendments suggested by Parent Forum adopted, agreement ratified by governors and amended agreement in use for 2017-18

Kind regards

Paper £5 notes will be not be accepted after Friday 28th April

As you may well be aware the paper five pound notes will no longer be legal tender from 5th May 2017. In order for the school to bank any paper £5 notes within this deadline we will not be accepting paper £5 notes after Friday 28th April.

The top up machines within the school take the new polymer £5 notes and also the new £1 coins

For your information, you will no longer be able to use the paper £5 notes in shops and banks after the deadline of 5th May and many shops may stop accepting them sooner. If you still have any paper £5 notes after this date you will  need to take or post them to the Bank of England to get an exchange.

It might be worth checking any places you may have saved cash,  money banks etc, to check that there are no paper £5 notes hidden there.

Open session at Knaphill Bowling Club

Come and try your hand at the great game of lawn bowls.
